Lake Mburo National Park is located in the western region of Uganda, about 240 kilometres from Kampala. It is the smallest of Uganda’s savanna national parks. Covering an area of approximately 370 square kilometres.
The park is known for its diverse ecosystems, including acacia woodlands, grasslands, and wetlands. The centerpiece of the park is Lake Mburo, which is home to a variety of aquatic life. It attracts numerous bird species and you will encounter them in this amazing trip.
The park is home to a range of wildlife, including zebras, impalas, buffaloes, warthogs, and over 300 bird species. Predators such as leopards, hyenas, and jackals can also be spotted. The park is famous for its Rothschild’s giraffe, which was reintroduced in 2015 and you will be able to experience some of them during the tour.
Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC), also known as Entebbe Zoo, is located about 36 kilometers from Kampala. UWEC is 15 minutes drive from Entebbe International Airport. It was originally established in the 1950s to accommodate confiscated and injured wildlife. Over the years, it has grown into a major conservation and education center.
UWEC focuses on the rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation of wildlife. The center houses a variety of animals, including endangered species, and provides educational programs to promote wildlife conservation.
In this one day’s tour, you will see rescued animals, and learn about Uganda’s biodiversity.

Day1: Lake Mburo National Park and UWEC
Get ready for an exciting day trip that combines the beauty of Uganda’s landscapes with its amazing wildlife. We’ll start early in the morning by 4:00am, leaving Kampala for Lake Mburo National Park. As the sun comes up, we’ll drive through the park, spotting animals like zebras, impalas, and buffaloes in their natural home.
After the game drive, we’ll head back to Kampala for a tasty lunch with a stop over at the Equator. Take some good pictures at the Equator as we continue with the journey.
With our energy restored, we’ll then visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) in Entebbe. Here, you’ll meet rescued animals and learn about the efforts to protect Uganda’s unique wildlife.
We’ll finish the day by heading back to Kampala.
