Gorilla habituation experience in Rushaga is an amazing and a lifetime experience .Rushaga sector is the only sector in Bwindi where one can carry gorilla habituation from. Bwindi Impenetrable National park in Uganda was gazetted in 1991. In 1994 it was described as the UNESCO World heritage site due to the presence of large numbers of gorillas and being rich in biodiversity.
The park provides a very good gorilla habituation experience in Rushaga sector. The park has four gorilla tracking points such as; Buhoma, Nkuringo, Ruhija and Rushaga sector.

Location
Rushaga sector in located in Kisoro district in the southern part of Bwindi impenetrable national park. The sector has over 6 gorilla families and each family has a meaning attached to them. The family is named either according to the behavior of the silver back , family traits or the point of habituation.

It is named so because the silver back has a very sharp listening skills . The silverback has a little bit of a deforming on the ear that it can easily be identified among the others by the time it took on the leadership position in the family thus the family had to be named so.
Other families were named basing on the general traits of the gorillas in the that family. Such as Busingye gorilla family meaning peace, the family was named so because of the peaceful nature of the silver back and the other members of the family. Up to date the family is still very peaceful and one of the most interesting gorilla family to visit in Rushaga sector.
Due to the calmness of the family, it offers the tourists a very good opportunity to take nice pictures and it offers the best tracking experience to the tourists. The family has all the categories of gorillas such as; babies, juveniles, sub-adults, black backs and the silver back. However, it is not guaranteed that one can find all the members during tracking due to nature.
Because there is grabbing of members from different gorilla family to another families as a sign of dominance among the gorillas.
Others are named basing on their habituation point such as Nshongi and Mishaya family. The families are named so because the gorillas were habituated along river Bweza and Mishaya. Other gorilla family include; Bweza,Kahungye
There are basically two gorilla family in Rushaga sector that are undergoing habituation and the sector offers a very good habituation experience.

Gorilla habituation experience in Rushaga sector starts as early as 7:00 am. visitors are driven to the starting point where they are welcomed by the rangers and the ranger guides. Visitors are briefed concerning the journey as they prepare for the habituation experience.
It starts with a walk inside the forest in search for the gorillas. Follow the trails until when the gorillas are discovered however those gorillas are very hostile and can easily charge. The experience is limited to only four members and it lasts for four hours with the gorillas. After the experience, the ranger guide walks with you back to the starting point from where you will be picked up your driver guide.

Gorilla habituation experience in Rushaga sector takes 4 hours staying and watching the gorillas interact with nature. Gorilla habituation can take about two and a half years to 3 years for the gorillas to be fully habituated.
Requirements
