VISA approvals sometimes can take long so its advisable to do it before the traveling date. It can be 3 months prior to travelling. You should as well  have at least six months valid passport with at least two blank pages.

Health notice

Kenya is a healthy country for any tourists  traveling in . However it’s a good idea for the tourists to carry their full holiday/medical insurance. its better to consult your local health authority for up-to-date  health  recommendation before you travel.

Knowing your health including your blood type is very important. Its recommendable for any tourist entering Kenya to have a yellow fever card as a must before entering the country.

Food and water

You can quickly change your money into Kenyan Shillings at the airport though the rates at the airport is not that very good, city hotel, and any bank. Kenya has no “exchange control”; the exchange rate varies between banks, foreign exchange bureaus and hotels.

MasterCard and VISA cards are widely accepted in Kenya, especially at ATM’s, camps, lodges and hotels. Banking hours always start from Monday-Friday 9:00am-16:30 pm and on  Saturday 9:00am-12:00pm.

There are no restrictions on importing or exporting local or foreign Currency. However, amounts exceeding US$1,000 or equivalent must be declared.

Electricity Voltage

Most bush lodges have limited power supply. Voltage is 220-240 A.C. so it’s good to carry an extra power bank or batteries for your equipment to last entire day. Also, carry an adapter plug (square pin, English Standard).

Luggage

It is good to pack your luggage in a soft bag and it should not be more than 15kgs. In case you have a heavy luggage is it advisable to leave it at  the hotel provided you are returning back there after your safaris.
